~SECRETS OF THE NIGHT~
T’was the brink of midnight,
As I walked in the moonlight.
The stars shone like fireflies,
Calling out the butterflies.
Once again, the night came alive;
Breathing life into the lifeless,
In the beauty of stillness.
Though my feet always faced west,
I could not resist nature’s song.
As I fell into her trance,
I blessed the trees with a dance.
For I was far away from home,
In a place; I call home.
A place where water falls and streams sing,
To the sound of silence.
I felt you before I saw you.
The air carried your DNA,
And engulfed me in your molecules.
Particles new to my atmosphere,
Radiated from your hemisphere.
I felt a shift and vibration,
Accompany a tingling sensation.
With subtle pulses steadily racing,
You saw me before you felt me.
Like a prey, you watched and gazed;
Intensely, with eyebrows raised.
Filled with awe and curiosity,
You approached me silently.
For I was nothing you had seen before,
But everything you had known before.
With meticulous plan and strategy,
You found yourself close to me.
The mist shrouded and filled the air,
With electrolytes of passion
And strings of tension;
Drawing you to me,
And my heart to you,
As we basked in awareness of each other.
We stood and savored the taste of a longing,
We never felt before.
We stood and imagined a fantasy,
We never evoked before.
A tale of perfection and ecstasy,
Flooded every memory.
Time stood as we pondered,
If this could be as stories told;
On earth and beyond, in books of old.
Wandering thoughts stood as we wondered,
If we could set the earth on fire;
With a flame that burns forever.
You touched the feather
Etched on my back,
And electric pulsed through my veins.
-Slow, yet sudden.
Fast, yet soothing.
I turned and beheld your eyes,
Which sparked a chain reaction.
Deep within; and in my soul,
I knew I had known you,
Though I could not recognize you.
And in that moment my lips failed to utter,
The words my heart spoke in its flutter.
A feeling so familiar,
Yet new to me;
Overhauled my existence,
And altered my nucleus.
I feared not,
Yet I trembled.
I felt not,
Yet I shivered,
As the chills run down my spine.
I knew not what to make of our encounter.
For birds of night have not the right,
To tamper with creatures of day.
Neither do we possess the power,
To alter the laws of nature.
Yet we dare not call into question,
What fate has sought to put together.
Who are we to shut the doors,
Opened by the keys of heaven?
And who are we to hold back,
The waters raging inside?
As the beat of our hearts matched the thunder,
We knew nothing could put us asunder.
The rain praised our union,
As the wind howled through the trees.
Together, they announced to the earth,
The fusion of our atoms into one.
Like a rainbow in the dark,
We lit the earth and sky.
We never possessed the supernatural,
Yet we saw the magic unfold.
Something so ordinary; unremarkably mortal,
Opened the portal to the immortal.
We never intended to wake the night,
But every touch caused an explosion;
Which caught the attention of none other,
Than the eerie silent hunter.
Perched up high; in the corner,
He sought not to bother.
Rather, to witness a piece of the divine;
Unfold on the earthly plane.
Though he, a meager barn owl,
Could not fully comprehend,
One glance into his lonesome eyes,
Said there was nothing left to fear.
For our sin was eternally concealed,
As with all the secrets of the night.
